Just a side note

The two books I've commented on so far are Presents. Most of the books I read are Presents or Sexy in Australia.

But my TBR pile has a couple of different lines in it so I will comment on other books.

Book Challenge - Book 1

Okay the second book I'm commenting on was actually the first book I read in the new year. In fact it was on New Years Day.

The book was The Disobedient Virgin by Sandra Marton

I have to say I'm not a huge fan of the word "Virgin" in titles but generally it won't stop me from reading the book, depends on what line the book is from.

This book was the third book in a triology with two other fantastic authors. Australian Author Emma Darcy and English Author Michelle Reid. Two of my favourite authors.

The gist of it the triology is, Enrique Ramirez dies. On his death 3 envelopes are despatched around the world to his sons. Sons he hasn't acknowledged in his lifetime. Each envelope advises the recipient of an inheritance, a task they must complete and the fact they have two other brothers. If they complete the task they will then meet their siblings.

Each hero was mightly annoyed at that request. Only one of them knew that Enrique was his father, the other two didn't.

First thing I would have done, would have been a google search to find out their names etc. Two of them were actually using the Ramirez name. All of them were wealthy so there would have been information about them on the net. The brother that wasn't using the name "Ramirez" could have located his to other siblings. The two using the "Ramirez" name would have only found each other.

Anyway back to Sandra's story. Jake's task is to take over the guardianship of a young woman. This girl has been in a convent school since she was about 12. Most of the girls leave the school when they turn 18. A requirement of her parents Will meant Catarina had to wait until she was 21 before she could leave.

On her 21st birthday she finds out another stipulation, that in order to receive a substantial inheritance she must marry a suitable Brazilian man. Jake's task is to find a suitable husband for his ward.

The two clash but the attraction between them can't be denied. Due to her naivety Cat drinks too much. Jake is considerably peeved at the man who plied her with the drinks, he takes her home and puts her to bed. She awakes feeling not the best and well soon he is holding her hair back and mopping her brow as she loses the contents of her stomach. He puts her in his bed and falls asleep next to her. Wakes up sometime before dawn and takes her big selling point to future husbands - her virginity.

In each of the stories our heroes are willing to forego meeting their brothers because they feel they have failed the task set out by Enrique and the woman they love is more important than meeting their brothers.

Of course they haven't failed the task and the meeting takes place. Not in the lawyers office, but in a bar they all decided to individually attend whilst waiting for the allotted time of the official meeting.

They had a good chat and discussed the man they didn't know but who had ultimately done good by letting each of them know of the other's existence.

I enjoyed the book and it was a great, quick read once I got the time to actually sit down and read in earnest.

Actually all three were great books and having three different authors from different countries gave this particular triology a uniqueness all its own.

Well worth digging up the books if you can find them.

Book Challenge - Book 2

On Eharlequin they are conducting a 100 book challenge. Read a 100 harlequin books in the year, comment on them as you read and get % vouchers. Well I would do it, unfortunately the vouchers would be useless for me.

So I'm going to post every now and then about the books that I've read over the past couple of weeks.

So in January I've read 4 so far, but I'm sure there is another one in there somewhere that I've missed remembering.

So the first book.

The Antonakos Marriage by Kate Walker

Classic Kate Walker this book. I enjoyed this book immensely. It took me a while to read it. I got caught up with other stuff so didn't have much reading time. If I had a couple of hours spare I'm sure I would have knocked over half the book in quick time.

A one night stand before moving onto a marriage of convenience/necessity for our herione, Skye. The thing is, the recipient of the one night stand, Theo or Anton as Skye knows him to be. Is none other than the estranged son of the man our herione has to marry.

Their first meeting is after their one night together is given to us from both pov's. Theo is totally thrilled to see her again as he wants to continue the affair. His first assumption is that she is the daughter of the woman his father is to marry.

Of course Skye is surprised to see him and she is the first to realise the situation they had got themselves into.

Consequently Theo is none to pleased to realise he spent a wonderful night with his stepmama to be.

He gives her 3 days to tell his father that they had spent the night together or he will.

The reason she has to marry his father (Cyril - I'm sure it's Cyril apologies to Kate if I mucked this up) is that her father took some money to pay for his wife's hospital bills. Hence Cyril is going to waive the debt so long as Skye marries him and supplies him with an heir.

It is then found out that Cyril's long time mistress, a village girl on the island where he lives, is pregnant with his child - no reason for Skye to marry him now, seeing as an heir is on the way.

Oh yes, Cyril has disinherited Theo because Theo refused to go through with an arranged marriage. The island Cyril lives on belongs to his deceased wife's family - Theo's mum.

Theo wants what he thinks is rightfully his - the island.

Consequently after finding out that the reason for the marriage isn't there anymore Skye confesses that she can't go through with the marriage because she wants Theo.

So that night they spend it together again. But come morning she still can't bring herself to give herself totally to Theo and must tell Cyril the truth about their affair and almost certainly send her father to jail for embezzlement and her mother to her grave because they can't afford the operation need to save her now.

Theo does come to the party after he has calmed down from her rejection yet again. Realises there must be more to the story and gets a waiver saying that his father will never press charges and Theo paid the money back.

He pretends to be the driver that is taking her to the helipad to return her to Athens. He hands her the waiver and they kiss and commit to each other.

I've just remembered the book that I'd thought I read - The Disobedient Virgin by Sandra Marton. I shall comment on that tomorrow.

SO I've read 5 books. Not bad for the 4th week of January. Need to read more if I'm to make the 100 books by the end of the year.

Sick Kids & Animals

Ack it always happens on a long weekend. Your child or pet gets sick. Well we've been hit with a double whammy. LOL

First, Zane has a nasty cough and cold. Poor little man, too young to understand the concept of coughing up and spitting out. Gross I know but the truth. He was unhappy at about 12.30am until 1.30am when he finally let us get some children drugs into him. Then we all managed to get a good nights sleep until about 5.55am. Thankfully DH had decided not to go on a bike ride because he wouldn't settle down in my arms. Unusual isn't it, most kids want their mums when they are ill, not their dads. Actually Skylar only ever wants me when she wants to throw up. Nice I tell you. The one thing I have trouble coping with is vomit. LOL

Second, Scooter the cat is limping on three legs and I just know going to the vet is going to cost triple the amount it normally would only because it is a holiday weekend. Oh well, hopefully he isn't limping so much and nature is taking its course and he is healing well.

I was hoping for a better year with the kids health wise but, two days in and already one has a cold. Admittedly it is a carry on over from 2005. Maybe this will be it for a long time.

Hmmm is that a pig I see flying?
